
Shai Lifshitz
General Manager
Shai is a social activist involved in the improvement of quality of life for children and adults on the autistic spectrum. Among his accomplishments:
Promotion of therapeutic health services for children on the spectrum and payments for external students. Shai is one of the founders of a group of parents in Jerusalem, that is active in developing services for children on the autistic spectrum- from pre-school age through high school. Among the programs that he initiated and established: The Integrative Center for Pre-school Children, the integrative school- “Yad Ha’Moreh”, the “Ha’magshimim” program at the zionist youth farm, and the “Kishurim” (Skills) project at the Botanical
Gardens of the Hebrew University.
Shai is a graduate of the Schwartz program for management of non-profits.

Michal Lifshitz
Educational Director
A senior educator, Michal is the founder of “Beit Hayeladim” and one of the pioneers of integrative education in Jerusalem. She is highly
experienced in leading programs which integrate children with special needs into regular educational settings, by creating an atmosphere of acceptance and inclusion.
Michal is a graduate of David Yellin College in the program for preschool education. She is active in various professional forums of the Ministry of Education, such as “Principals of Special Education Institutions”. She is known as a professional supervisor and as an activist in
the advancement of integrative educational policy.

Michal Perry
Expressive Arts Therapy Coordinator
I began working at Matam in 2011 as a social worker, concentrating in parent counseling and
then also as a child therapist. Since 2020 I have been the coordinator of emotional therapy at the
Matam cluster of nurseries and manage and train the social workers and verbal expression and
creativity therapists.
I have a bachelors degree in social work from the Hebrew University, a
masters degree in bibliotherapy from Haifa University, and certification as a psychotherapist
from the Jerusalem Psychoanalysis Institute. In addition to my work at Matam I have a private
clinic providing therapy for adolescents and adults.

Tovi Piekrash
Coordinator of Speech Therapists
Tovi has a BA in communications disorders and a masters degree in child development with a
specialization in sensory regulation. She has been working in speech therapy in 2012 when
she began working at Matam.

dear to my heart.”

Orian Turgeman
Manager - Normative Nurseries
Orian began her connection with Matam in 2006 as a National Service volunteer just after high school, when she worked in the rehabilitative nurseries.
Since then she has been working at Matam continuously. As she gained experience she became a certified ABA therapist and then coordinated the ABA treatment program at Matam.
She sees great value in providing the children with their first skills for success.
Orian lives in Ma’aleh Adumim and is the mother of four amazing daughters.

Edna Kochman-Gelbaum
Manager, Therapeutic Services at External Pre-Schools
Edna is the professional manager and supervisor of the external preschools managed by
Matam, where she oversees the therapeutic and rehabilitative services which contribute to the
advancement of the children in these preschools. In the past, Edna managed the children’s
department at Alut-the Israeli Society for Autistic Children. She also has a private therapy clinic
for adolescents and adults and offers parent coaching services

Chaya Teitelbaum
Manager, Rehabilitation Nurseries
I have a BA in Communications Disorders and a MA in Special Education.
I am trained as a speech therapist – with a concentration in language communication and pronunciation.
In my role at Matam I manage and train the speech therapists and other staff members.
I have been working in education and therapy for over 20 years, including individual therapy, parent training, and leading groups of children, parents and staff members. In addition I manage and train professionals in informal education as well as college students. I also have a private therapy clinic.
I love to learn and to improve my skills in order to provide professional and personal solutions to the people with whom I work. Over the years I have learned methods to work with children with Specific Language Impairment (SLI), the principles of DIR, practical behavioral analysis ABA and many other professional courses. I live in Tekoa in Gush Etzion.

Sally Krisman
DIR Coordinator
I moved to Israel from England in 1983 with my family.
I am a special education teacher. I began working at Matam in 1995 where 4 children on the autistic spectrum in one class were integrated into the regular nursery classes.
Over the course of the years I learned the DIR method of therapy which is based on the personal interactions with the child and his/her connection to the world starting from their individual level of development. Today I train the DIR staff at Matam.
For the last 12 years I was also responsible for the work of the National Service young women at Matam. The work of these young women is very significant and highly valued by our professional staff.
In my free time I enjoy cooking, baking and Pilates, hiking and spending time with my grandchildren

Sylvie Mocate
Human Resources Manager
I completed my studies as a nursery school teacher at David Yellin College and joined the staff of Matam as a kindergarten teacher in 2000. At Matam I found a home and a family, a place to grow and develop, to meet and work with a wide variety of people (both children and staff). As a nursery teacher I loved being involved in the development of the children, to ensure their good welfare, their safety and their growth. As manager of human resources it is important to me that each of our staff members will have a similar connection to all of the children in our care. In 2017 I completed a masters degree in early childhood education at the Hebrew University. I was born and raised in France, where I was very active in the Jewish community. I moved to Israel to live and be a part of the history of the Jewish people in its own land. I live in Jerusalem close to the Sherover Promenade which overlooks the Old City of Jerusalem.

Rotem Kufeld
Coordinator of Occupational Therapy
I have a BA in occupational therapy from Tel Aviv University, and a MA in special education with concentration in autism and learning disabilities from Herzog College. Over the years I have taken tens of courses in these areas.
In my role as an occupational therapist I help children progress in their communication, motory, senso-motory, cognitive and sensory skills as should be expected at their age. I feel that it is most important for the child to have enjoyable experiences, and that they should feel self-confident and secure in their abilities to progress and succeed. I believe that the parents are an essential part of the therapy and the success of the children. I am also the coordinator of the overall occupational therapy area at Matam. The greatest satisfaction for me is to see the child progress and reach the goals which we have worked together with them to achieve. I feel it is a privilege for me to be part of the work at Matam, where there is a feeling of teamwork and a warm and respectful atmosphere which help our dear children on the autistic spectrum make progress. This combination is very unique.I live in Jerusalem, in the Har Choma neighborhood, and enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, reading and learning more and more.

Asaf Meir
ABA Coordinator
Asaf is a certified facilitator in the treatment of children with special needs, and certified by Alut and Tel Aviv University. He has been working at Matam since 2004. His individual work is directed towards the integration of the child into normative educational settings. He has been working in this field for 30 years.
He has extensive experience working with children and adults with special needs and their families.
Asaf is married and the father of three children. His youngest son has special needs. In addition he .
In addition he is a musician, a composer, a writer and performer. “My unique method includes the various areas of my training: music, sports, behavioral and other methods, which assist in integrating children into the normative culture in which we live

Efrat Pomerantz
Coordinator of Special Education and Para-professional therapies
I began working at Matam in 2006. Over the years I have held various positions in the organization. I have a BA in Educational Counseling from Bar-Ilan University, certification as a special education teacher, and a masters degree in clinical social work from Hebrew University.
In addition to my work at Matam I work as a therapist at the mental health center in the Shomron.
I am married to Roi and have four children.

Dr. David Wilensky
Children's medical conditions
Dr. Wilensky has been working at Matam since 1999 as a child development doctor. He completed his medical studies in pediatrics at Einstein Hospital in New York in 1975. He then completed specialty studies in child development at Yale Child Health Center in 1977. In 1977 Dr. Wilensky moved to Israel. Since then he has been working at child development centers in Jerusalem.
At Matam he introduced the DIR method of work with autistic children and continues to teach this method to the National Service young women who have a very big impact on the children. In addition he follows each of the children’s
medical conditions and meets with parents to help them with various challenges such as eating problems, sleeping difficulties, and behavioral issues that are common to children on the autistic spectrum.
Dr. Wilensky lives in Jerusalem and enjoys volunteering in a community garden and taking care of his 29 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Natali Ben Elul
Office Manger
Natali joined the staff of Matam in 2016.
She has taken on many different roles and responsibilities over the years. She registers the children and welcomes their parents, she provides professional solutions for our staff members, and she is the contact person for Matam with government offices.
Natali is highly motivated and has the ability to find solutions to almost every situation that arises. Even during times of pressure she keeps her cool and works efficiently. All of her skills contribute greatly to the success of Matam.
Natali is also a mother to 4 wonderful children.

Yechiel Marcus
Resource Development
Yechiel grew up in Sharon, Massachusetts. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and then earned a Masters in Social Work from Yeshiva University. In 1987 Yechiel and his young family moved to Israel. After many years in commercial banking in Israel, he joined the fundraising staff at the Jaffa Institute where he worked for 20 years. Yechiel brings his experience to Matam where he is working to interest individuals and foundations in our work and develop new sources of financial support for our essential programs.
In his free time, Yechiel loves to swim, teach swimming and spend time with his grandchildren.
